Breaking MLM News: Global Verge’s former interim CEO, Steve Lewis and CFO, Teresa Curits, break their silence, reveling some very interesting information on the inside workings of Global Verge and Buzzirk Mobile, by founders Ted Robbins and Mark Petschel.

This open letter answers some questions, and raises even more to those who have been watching this saga unfold over the last year.

“We have been quiet long enough and we are using this letter to be proactive so that everyone can understand the actions of Steve Lewis and Teresa Curtis in the matter of Global Verge. Our purpose is to get the facts straight so the rumors and lies that are being circulated will be totally dispelled.

Fact – Steve and Teresa were asked in May 2009 by Mark and Ted to help them to organize a company that was going wild and out of their control. Steve and Teresa agreed to help behind the scenes to get things started and straightened out.

Fact – In late June Steve and Teresa agreed to help on an interim level acting as CEO and Secretary to the corporation (which we were for all of three weeks.) The agreement included the following:

• Teresa worked on scripts that were supposed to be turned into videos for the company

• Steve as acting CEO until such time as Warren Hanchey could take over as CEO.

• Teresa as overseer of the Accounting and office operations, including training Craig Perry, an excellent business man and attorney, who was not going to be the corporate attorney, but the operations manager in the issues and specialties of MLM operations.

• Teresa would also work on customer service to bring it up to date as Mark’s wife was handling it and didn’t want to.

• Gerry Nehra must be hired as MLM attorney.

• A Canadian MLM attorney was to be hired to make Canada legal as far as MLM was concerned.

• An Australian MLM attorney would be found to make Australia legal.

• Steve and Teresa would find merchant accounts because Mark and Ted could not obtain one on their own (we found out later it was because Mark had pled guilty on a 2005 securities fraud charge and was currently sentenced to 5 years probation plus repayment) For details see http://stlouis.bizjournals.com/stlouis/stories/2004/06/07/daily15.html

• Steve would also act as Marketing Director, starting a Triple diamond call to keep distributors apprised of the day by day current situation of the company.

• All Contracts were to be sent to Teresa to ascertain all legal liabilities of the company.

• Teresa would also become resident agent for the Nevada Corporation and therefore was supposed to get all the legal paperwork of the company as its agent.

All of this was agreed upon by Mark, Ted, Steve, Teresa, Warren and Craig in our living room in Las Vegas.
What we found out when things started to trickle in was:

• There was no accounting books anywhere. The commissions were being handled byXennsoft, an excellent software company, but the Global Verge ‘books’ were nonexistent. An August 2, 2009 email from Teresa to Ted shows that she was still trying to find out who was owed money and how much.

• What arrived for Teresa was a box with lots of paper in it, which had to be sorted out with Ted there as there was no rhyme or reason to it.

• The customer service ticket system was like a big pot that only a couple of people could handle and then they had to go through all of tickets to find the new ones and answer them. Teresa went in and organized it so that small issues could be taken care of immediately and larger issues were routed to the proper person.

• Teresa also found contracts to people for large sums of money. There was no record of this money coming in to Global Verge. When she raised this issue, it became the first time that Mark stated that Buzzirk Mobile was separate from Global Verge and that all of our work was with Global Verge and NOT Buzzirk Mobile.

• The next issue came when Teresa was looking for contracts between Global Verge, Buzzirk Mobile and Zer01. We were all told that the contract with Zer01 was with Buzzirk Mobile and Zer01 and that Global Verge had nothing to do with it. Craig Perry was then asked to put together a contract with Zer01 and Buzzirk Mobile. The management staff kept insisting that Global Verge have a written contract with Buzzirk, but we have no knowledge if this was ever done.

• At this point we also found out that Mark was on probation for securities fraud and that he wasn’t allowed to leave the state, sell securities or solicit funds in any way. Teresa immediately asked Mark and Ted about the trips that Mark was taking and about the contracts that Mark had signed regarding money solicited for investment from Canada and Australia. She was informed that those contracts were with Buzzirk and not Global Verge and she basically should ‘butt out’.

• Steve and Warren had also gone out on a personal and financial limb and had convinced 2 merchant account dealers that they would back Global Verge’s credit card accounts. All of us began to feel really uneasy about that.

• We had also helped find funding for Global Verge, (yes Mark solicited us for it) fortunately that money was on a short term basis and did indeed get paid back.

Needless to say, all of these incidents were raising red flags. The biggest red flag that was raised came from Mark’s refusal to allow us to even talk to Zer01. We wanted some straight answers instead of the changing commentary that we were getting from Mark. The story was changing daily. We finally insisted on meeting with Ben Piilani which was agreed to as long as Ted was with us. During that meeting we found out several things that for us put the icing on the cake as far as Mark was concerned.

• According to Ben, Mark had lied to us about what Ben had promised. Since Ben also was not living up to his contract about providing service, we were willing to give Mark the benefit of the doubt.

• Ben told us that he thought we might have service in the US in about a month.
• Canada was at least 6 months away

• Australia was at least a year away.

• He did have a voip service that he might be able to use in Canada and Australia.

We left that meeting in shock and horror. Ted Robbins showing as much shock and horror as the rest of us. We sat down and decided that the only way to save the company was to:

• Remove Mark’s name from all ties with the company and put all the stock in Ted’s name. We NEVER asked for stock to be put in our name. The closest we came to that is to ask that stock be set aside for rewards to Employees who had been there at least five years.

• Find another true cellular phone company that we could use for Canada and Australia until such time as Zer01 was ready with their product.

• Find out where all the money that Mark had received from Canada and Australia had gone to. Had some of it gone to Zer01? Was that why Mark did not want us involved with it? What deal did he personally have with Zer01?

Ted got Mark on the phone and Mark agreed that he would do whatever it took to make Global Verge successful. He agreed to hand over to Ted his stock certificates, stating that after all the money was in Buzzirk and not Global Verge. Ted went back to the office to accomplish this task, Warren contacted another phone company that we had talked to and we set about putting a service together that would satisfy Global Verge’s international clients.

The next thing we hear is that Mark is NOT going to turn over his stock. This was a complete reversal on what he had said. All of a sudden Ted was agreeing with him, after all his posturing when he was at our house. They also stated in no uncertain terms that were not even going to look at another phone company for Canada and Australia and that they are going to stick strictly with Zer01. We were told that Australia and Canada were NOT to be told what we had found out about from Zer01. In other words, lie to the distributors.

We then had a meeting with Steve, Teresa and Warren who agreed that this was totally unsatisfactory and against our integrity. We told Mark and Ted that unless they came up with a satisfactory way to solve the issue, we would all resign by Friday. On Thursday morning, after Craig Perry had left for another meeting with Zer01 in an attempt to reconcile everything, Mark and Ted fired the three of us.

We were told that we could keep the approximately 32,000 person downline that we had and nothing else would be affected. Even though this obviously meant a great deal of money to us, we could NOT be that far out of integrity. We told them in no uncertain terms that we were NOT going to have anything else to do with them and we all resigned from our distributorships.

They immediately put out a rush email and ambushed Craig on his way back from the meeting with Ben and staged a “isn’t it wonderful how we have everything going for us” call. We then put out an email to the Triple Diamonds and had a call where we told them the truth.

Craig Perry stayed with the program for a few more months and finally resigned.

Zer01 resigned from them and I hear there is a lawsuit going on. There should be. Our feeling is that Zer01 may have had the technology, but they were nowhere near being able to produce it. Zer01 did not resign because of us and it has been long enough now that people know the truth, we did NOT start another company with Zer01, though both
Mark and Ted used that as an excuse and as usual needed a scapegoat and our resignation left them a perfect target.

After we realized what liars Mark and Ted were, we no longer backed the merchant accounts. So yes we were responsible for those getting shut down, but we can’t figure out why Mark and Ted would think that we would financially back them after the things we found out.

We talked to no other vendors or tried to harm Global Verge in any way.

Craig Perry remains a staunch friend and assured us that while Mark and Ted were bad mouthing us in private, they had promised not to do so in public. Craig totally denied ever hearing Mark and Ted blaming us in public for anything.

Yet he also couldn’t deny that he was hearing all kinds of strange things from the distributors that were totally untrue. We only have the distributors who called and cussed us out for trying to steal the company to know that they blamed us as they blamed everyone else for the previous company going under. Craig finally had had enough and resigned a few months after we did.

It’s amazing how the story of E-verge and the story of Global Verge coincide so well. Could it be that Mark and Ted have played this game before and that’s how they got their money?

I think it is amazing that we have copies of contracts where Mark got almost a million dollars, yet what did he do with it? There was a lot of interaction between Zer01 and Buzzirk – or really a lot of interaction between Mark and Ben.

Could it be that there was something going on over at Zer01 that Mark was a part of? We all thought that until Zer01 quit Buzzirk a week later. Then we couldn’t figure out what the “cloak and dagger” business was about between Mark and Zer01.

Did Ben take that million dollars and screw Mark? Is Mark still involved with Ben? We found that relationship really strange and couldn’t figure out what Mark and Ted had done with all the money.

There were so many underhanded things going on behind the scenes that had to come to light. We found out so much that we left and warned everyone what was going to happen. Oh, yeah – it did happen. Guess we were right all along!

But it couldn’t have been Mark or Ted’s fault after all, could it? It had to all be the fault of Steve, Teresa and Warren. We had a whole 3 weeks to try and get a company together that Mark and Ted had spent two years and many lies to create.

Breaking MLM Wireless War News: MLM Help Desk and Troy Dooly Officially responds to Global Verge (read response here) through MLM attorney Kevin Thompson of The Advocate Group.

Those of you, who read our articles or are subscribers to MLM Help Desk, know MLM attorney and advocate Kevin Thompson is both a friend and our legal counsel. As I wrote in my last post, I had forwarded to Kevin the letter from the Global Verge attorney along with my response.

As you know, Global Verge’s attorney sent me a threatening letter last week (read Global Verge Demand Letter here) and alleged that my content was defamatory. Specifically, their attorneys aid that the following title was defamatory and “not true”

Over the weekend, Kevin and I had a conversation. In the interest of fairness and based on Kevin’s legal counsel, we are disclosing our source of information to publicly demonstrate our factual basis for writing the article.  Activation King’s CEO, Chris Greco, specifically informed me that Global Verge was dropped because of their failure to pay.

On, January 21^st, 2009 we received the following email. I followed up with a personal phone call to Chris Greco to verify he had personally sent the email and not some underhanded competitor of Global Verge.

Once I verified the email was authentic, I shot the video, and we published the article. For all those interested, Chris Greco has followed up by answering all critics and supporters on the above-mentioned post, through the MLM Help Desk comment section.

As readers of our content, we’re eternally grateful that you choose to spend a little bit of time with us to learn more about our industry.  As you know, we publicly celebrate the great companies and we publicly call out the bad ones.  I view it as part of my responsibility in this industry and it’s an absolute privilege.  I have zero economic incentive to wrongfully disparage a business.

As always, we welcome Global Verge to respond with proper documentation. And if they have a different side to the story, I will give my word to publish it.  We want to encourage vigorous debate on this website and if I’m in the wrong, I will be the first to admit it. Currently, I have no reason to believe otherwise than what I’ve already written about Global Verge and until I’m given new information, I will not acquiesce to threats of a legal action.

Yes, I am reversing my decision and placing Global Verge back on the MLM Scam Alert List. I was wrong! I have no problem admitting when I feel I’ve had the wool pulled over my eyes. After receiving numerous e-mails, and phone calls asking more questions than answers, we decided to dig a little deeper into some of the events which have transpired since our October 20th post, where we called Global Verge a legitimate MLM company.

Since our past post we have received some very disturbing updates. We also have gone back and listened to three very important Global Verge calls.

The first call was dated September 24, 2009, where Valerie the PR rep for Global Verge makes the following announcement.

Global Verge will be definitively activating the Cell Service in week of October 19th.

The second call dated October 29th. Ted Robbins once again stated “Next Week” we will be launching one of two of the new cell carriers.

And the third call dated November 5th, where Ted and Mark both announced “it will be soon” maybe next week (Yet next week never comes).

So we have gone from DEFINITIVELY launching the cell cervice in the week of October 19th, to who knows when we will launch Buzzirk’s Global Mobile 1 wireless services?

So, after researching several new pieces of information we have come up with a set of questions that ALL Global Verge, Buzzirk Mobile, and Global Mobile 1 reps should be asking. (some of which could show a track record of unethical behavoir on the part of Ted Robbins, Mark Petschel and maybe some of the founding distributors of Universal Tel-Tech, E-Verge, Global Verge, Buzzirk, Global Mobile 1 or whatever other name these folks have operated under.

1. Why didn’t Mark Petschel’s company Universal TelTech get off the ground. Especially since they seem to have attracted over 8600 reps?

“UTT – Universal Tel-Tech – This was supposed to be a revolutionary “high tech” company. They recruited almost all “heavy hitters” in pre-launch, people who wanted to be well positioned when the company launched. They all paid $225 to join, but the company folded before actually launching. 8,600 name, address, phone, (some fax and email).”

2. What’s the real Story behind why E-Verge Reps did not get their commissions? Has Ted Robbin’s and Mark Petschel actually filed a lawsuit against Kevin Sipe formerly founder of iGlobal Inc. to recover over $100,000 in purportedly stolen funds or is this just a ploy to keep from paying the former E-Verge reps?

4. Why would an Ethical company tell their reps to have their iPhone customers to “unlock” their iPhone’s” aka “jailbraking”when this will void the iPhone warranty of the iPhone and may be seen as an illegal act? Example 1 Example 2 Example 3

It is because of these outstanding questions, I have decided I was wrong and premature to move Global Verge from the MLM Scam Alert Category, and have instructed the team to move them back until future notice.

I still believe in the Global Verge distributors. However, I can’t take a chance someone will read my October 20th post and join a company with unethical motives.

MLM Wireless News: Global Verge stand before Attorney Generals answering questions about their business. This was bound to happen with the amount of complaints and questions flowing into their offices from law enforcement agencies, current distributors, former distributors, journalists, and competitors just trying to cause issues.

However, going before the AGs is not a bad thing in and of itself. Over the years while I was running ProSTEP I went before the AG in Florida a few times, and each time I was able to learn what was expected of us from the Attorney General. And for anyone who has been in this position, you know the Florida AG is NOT MLM Friendly.

With that said, I do have concerns on the way Jim Hilman and the Triple Diamonds are still hyping events which are taking place in and around Global Verge. I can say that Jim Hilman’s call last night was a solid call from the business opportunity standpoint. He did not hide from the issues, and if I were a GV rep, I would be using him for 3-way calls on a daily basis.

Now, the first thing I want to share is the Triple Diamond call from last Friday…

This call was NOT an official or approved Global Verge call and made several announcements which where premature. One of those announcements was the fact Global Verge and inked a deal with T-Mobile. However, there has been No Official announcement from Global Verge. Even in the official Global Verge email which was sent to E-Associates on Friday the T-Mobile agreement was not mentioned.

This Triple Diamond call was a hype call which also included a very serious issue. The Triple Diamond who held the call, mentioned that T-Mobile is the #1 cell phone company in the world (by the way it is the 6th largest, in my video I say 8th). Now, to some this would be a very small issue. However, when a leader lies about one thing, they’ll lie about another. Global Verge lost their Zer01 contract based on compliance issues, and now we see it happening again. This causes me to wonder if, these guys fully understand the magnitude of their compliance issues, or just don’t care! The FCC, FTC and the SEC are very watchful of the Tele-comm industry.)

Jim’s call last night does bring up some questions, and causes me to address some issues mentioned in the call.

But, before I get into those, I want to share one section of the call where JIm does give some sound Words Of Wisdom.

Ok, now to the rest of the call.

Now, Jim does an eloquent job of sharing about the issues with Global Verge and the AGs, but there are some things he just does not get correct.

1. The Attorney Generals NEVER issue “opinions”, they are enforcers of the laws and protectors of the people in their States.
2. Global Verge DID NOT approach the AGs to get their act together, the AGs received countless complaints and asked Global Verge To respond.
3. And, for those who may think I am wrong, then please provide the the documented opinions with the seal of the respective Attorney Generals offices.

Now this is great news. However, I have not heard from any Global Verge Distributors perosnally sharing that they have received their commissions. So if you are reading this and have received your June Global Verge commissions, please let us know.

Now, I fine this very interesting for several reasons.

1. Jim is very straightforward the “Matrix” is the key to the amount of money a person makes. Although, products “might” be sold, there has not been enough outside sales to meet the 70% rule the FTC has issues as one of the benchmarks for a legitimate MLM.

2. The Global Verge compensation plan was created as a “pay to play” comp plan. The only way you can max the compensation plan, is to increase your monthly membership (autoship) to the Professional package. On the surface this looks legit. However, when you run the numbers, you quickly see that the majority of the money paid out in the compensation plan does not come form the product pool, but from the matrix and other company pools where the money is generated from the matrix memberships themselves.

3. The majority of the products being sold are 1 time sales, not monthly consumable autoship products. Which once again, means you are paying the majority of your money through the matrix.

Now, some will say “Troy is grasping at straws…. Tell that to Burn Lounge and YTB distributors.

Now, let’s look at the real story… PHONES!

Well, I have to admit, I did get a pretty good laugh out of this part of the call. However, at the same time, if I were a rep, I would gladly do 3-way calls all day long with Jim because it can sure sell.

1. Ok, let’s do some math. If the company is now about 50K strong with reps, and 40K of those came in over the last 90 days to sell “cutting edge wireless tel-com technology. Then we know that in the last 21 months this company was not growing, and Jim Hilman was not making very much money. But if he can keep these new folks focused on the fact “soon” they can sell some type of wireless his income will grow beyond his wildest dreams, and he will have hit the BIG ONE! Well I sure can’t fault him for wanting to hit the big one, I think that’s one of the reasons we all stay in this profession.

2. What happens if the company doesn’t ink a deal with T-Mobile?

3. What if the Zer01 Press Release was just a ploy to get more folks at the bottom to quit, so commissions will roll up because folks quit. Then sometime in the future compliance issues are fixed and Zer01 renews the agreement. (Yes this is a far fetched theory. However, what hasn’t been far fetched so far when it concerns Global Verge?

So, here is what we know…

1. The company is about 24 months old, and until the last 90 days was not really growing at a huge rate.
2. The company isn’t the fastest growing MLM in history averaging less than 1400 reps per month.
3. The field is still hyping the fact “someday soon there will be some type of cell phone to sell.”
4. Commissions are purported to have started being paid.
5. Jim Hilman can really gave a great Global Verge presentation.
6. If we were in Jim Hilman’s position we just might do the same thing… NOT!

And…

My hat is off to Jim and his top leaders for standing firm in such a crazy adventure.

Questions:

Who’s lying… The Global Verge Staff member, or Steve Lewis?

On that note who is really lying to the field?

Questions:

What company launches without Policies & Procedures (guidelines) in place? Especially a company which is close to a year old? And whose founders have been trying to launch for three years?
If you can’t rely on the word of the corporate officers, then who’s word are you to rely on?
Since no one is really lying, yet no one knows what the guidelines are, then who do you go to for answers?
If the company was not planning on the field hitting critical mass so quick, why have they always talked about being a billion dollar company?
If the company is still being overwhelmed, then how in the same breach can the company be ready?

Why hasn’t credit cards been charged and commissions paid? Is this another lie, or a “not really” because 10 people whispered to each other until they got to Steve Lewis?

A little over a week ago, Steve Lewis said they would be starting to charge this week. Now he (THE CEO) doesn’t know when they will start charging?

OK, now let’s look at this scheme to collect CASH for the phones instead of running them through the corporate merchant accounts.

Now, Steve Lewis just stated they only have 130 phones (Apple sold 1 mmillion 3G iPhones in 3 days in june, how is zer01 or Buzzirk ever going to get JUST their field force outfitted with phones if new reps are still coming in at 500 to 1000 per day?)

Here is the issue I have with what Steve just said. His statement is he does not want to overwhelm their new processors. Yet in the above audio he states there are over $3,000,000,000 dollars in pending charges waiting to be processed.

Well, if all he has is 130 phones and if they were $600 each (price of original iPhones), that will only be an additional $78,000. That is not going to “overwhelm” a processor or group of processors doing $3,000,000,000.

Questions:

How long are the processors holding the processed charges before they release to Global Verge checking accounts?
Is the first 15% to 25% of the charges going into reserve accounts to offset charge backs?
Why would the phones not be bought directly through the “private distributor” account of Buzzirk Mobile and delivered from Zer01 like other cell phone companies?
Is Buzzirk Wireless on a COD with Zer01, before Zer01 will delivedr phones or Sim Chips?

OK, now on to the New PR Firm for Global Verge. What legitimate company does not announce who their PR Firm is… Or worse yet, states “we have PR firms, then gives just the first name of one person?

Questions:

Who is, or who are the PR folks handling things for Global Verge?
Why is Steve Lewis so worried about his field force calling to verify what he tells them?

Now, let’ switch gears and look at something very interesting. Steve Lewis starts talking about all the other products of Global Verge. On the surface this is not out of the ordinary for a CEO to chat about. EXCEPT, 30,000 to 40,000 people did not sign up for those products they signed up for Buzzirk Mobile (Which by the way has been removed from the Global Verge Website… WHY?)

But wait a second listen to this next audio.

Questions:

Why bring in another new CEO?
Why bring in a “Dr” Scientist, if your main product is someone else’s cell service?
Who is Warren Hanchey (In my video I called him Wayne, that is my mistake)?
Is this the same Warren Hanchey who owns ZeroQuantum LLC8ight?
Is this the same Warren Hanchey who had issues at LightWave?

Since Steve Lewis would not tell folks how to spell the name who knows. Bus since Steve is all of a sudden talking up the other products it does make you wonder whats really going on.

Here is part of the recording where Steve Lewis talks about the commissions and when they are paying them out.

Although Steve Lewis has stated publicly that less than 700 people out of 40,000 have quit the company. There is no way to verify that information until the commission run is done and money flows to distributors.

I can say that Global Verge has given the distributors a chance to cancel their autoships before the cards were ran this week. This is a very positive move on their part.

Next week I’ll update on the commissions as word comes in.

Why would the CEO of Global Verge take on ACN, without first making sure his info was accurate?

Global Verge Reps say I am biased against the Zer01, Buzzirk and leadership of their companies over all the other MLM Wireless Companies.

Over the last few days I have received both emails and phone calls from Global Verge Reps who all say the same thing… “Troy you are being very biased against the founders and current corporate leadership.

All the calls have been very professional, but each was ended the same. I would hear the propaganda of the company, and none of them had done any true due diligence.

They have read something I have written and had decided I must be with another MLM Wireless company. All except one had taken time to read my bio to fully understand where I stand and why I am willing to post the information I do, Global Verge, Zer01, Buzzirk and many other companies – pros and con.

So, I decided to open up this concern the MLM community as a whole. Based on your comments I will know for sure how the masses feel about our reporting on Global Verge and other companies we have blogged on over the last few months.

I know you are all busy, growing your respective businesses, but if you could take just a few seconds and share your thoughts I would greatly appreciate it.
