Yesterday, I wrote an article on how PHPI Corporate leaders Derrick Rodgers and Rick Presley met with some of their top field leaders to discus concerns by the field. During this meeting, a specific question was asked of CEO Derrick Rodgers regarding the pending litigation filed by Global Verge. He asked that his responses be kept off the record. I gave Mr. Rodgers the benefit of the doubt. But… Maybe there was another reason.
To pretend or lie, (depending on how you look at it) and make it seem like everything is someone elses fault, or just a minor issue is flatout wrong.
In this recording top People Helping People Inc, leaders Rock Roundtree and Curtis Miller referring to what Derrick Rodgers told them in the PHPI Leadership meeting held at the corporate offices on June 16, 2010. I reported on this meeting yesterday and overall praised the corporate position on meeting and communicating with their field leaders.
During the meeting the following issues was brought up:
“Presented by Kelly Melby – Negative Information on the Internet State of the union address concerning Global Verge accusations. What proactive steps are we taking? Have you [Derrick] or will you contact Troy Dooly to give your side? Can we file a counter-suite for this being a “frivolous suit?”
Response: Derrick explained his position, thoroughly, and received a positive response from the attendees. He requested that his response was not recorded in the Minutes.”
Well, here is what Derrick Rodgers had to say according to Rick Roundtree and Curtis Miller:
For those whom want to listen to the full call to make sure we did not take anything out of context here is the complete conference call.
This brings up some questions I think ALL distributors should be asking. The same questions some of you asked of Global Verge just a few months ago.
1. What was autoship charged in may, yet product was not delivered?
2. Why is June’s autoship getting charged before product is delivered?
3. Is the company really financially stable? If so why are they charging autoship with no product being delivered in the month it was charged?
4. Why is Derrick Rodgers hiding from the Process Servers?
5. Who else in the corporate offices of People Helping People Inc., is on the list to be served?
6. Who is the litigation attorney handling this issue?
7. Who is the MLM consultant or MLM Attorney that created the policies, procedures and compensation plan?
8. Who are the equity partners of People Helping People? Are they also targets of Global Verge civil suits?
9. If the Global Verge is “frivolousness” then why hasn’t Derrick Rodgers and PHPI officially hired an attorney to be served on their behalf, and answered the complaint, or at least filed a counter civil complaint to protect their distributors?
Distributors who are betting their financial future on People Helping People, deserve to know the answers to these questions, so they can make informed decisions on calculating the risks involved in continuing with People Helping People.
I challenge Derrick Rodgers and the equity partners of People Helping People to have their legal team to contact me and set the record straight.
For those who have not read the official complaint filed in Clark County District Court, here it is.
Living An Epic Adventure,
Troy Dooly

I find it always strange, suspicious… if a corporate team is hiding and is not on the corporate website. You should be proud to put your name and face there. Don’t see any reason why a MLM company would not do so, unless you have something to hide.No corporate team = BIG red flag, maybe I have to put out a global warning at least for poor management….
Troy,
Amen brother!!! It’s about time someone stood up and challenged these chuckle berries. I was in a couple of these companies you mention in the post and its eerily familiar lies, deception and deceit. The only thing these companies do consistently well is charge the auto ships. The company names have changed but the leaders behind the scenes remain the same. You can can dress up a pig but it’s still a pig. I have a great idea Troy let’s ignore the problem and hope it goes away that’s a sound business model. I was approached by a top distributor in this company to come aboard early on and I gracefully declined for the simple reason that he stayed with the prior company collecting a big old check knowing that they never did have a product but they continued to hype the company and continued to mislead distributors. I lost a lot of respect for that individual at that very moment. To join him in another telecom company would just be ludicrous. I will not sacrifice my ethics and morals for the ol mighty dollar. I easily could have made tens of thousands of dollars but walked away. I’ve strained or lost enough relationships through this whole telecom debacle. You might not get paid for having this blog but we as distributors really appreciate what you do and gladly would chip in to help with any costs you may incur while fighting the good fight on our behalf. As always if your interested in an old fashion honest MLM with proven leadership, honesty and ethics shoot me an email to morbitzermarketing@live.com with “more info” in the subject line. Oh yea forgot to say hi to Armondo.
I will never understand why these people think this “cone of silence” attitude is a good thing. Your correct, GV did it , many others have and PHPI is doing it and it make no sense.
Public Relations 101 tells you that in the absence of official information people are left to find information on their own or the will make it up in their own minds. True or not, they will find it. One way or another that information vacuum WILL BE FILLED.
To my knowledge, other than the weak Sunday message from Derrick Rogers a few weeks ago there has been NO official communication from the company to the field. This is in spite of the fact that that notice stated an official response, from the legal team would be coming.
The fact that only one side of the story is out there is PHPI’s fault, no one Else’s. We all know that when a story is repeated it often changes a little, usually unintentionally so again, they should take control. My advice would be to hire someone to be in charge of communicating regularly with the field, OFFICIALLY. And just saying “Trust Me” is not communicating.
If they leave it to others there will be communication mistake after mistake added to the pile of legitimate things. Once again as you stated this is exactly what happened at GV and anyone who has been in the industry for a while has seen it over and over and over.
Your REPS are All Adults, Be honest With Them and Most will Never Leave You. The ones That Do Leave Because Your Open And Honest , Well, You Don’t Want Them Anyway.
Network Marketers don’t want cheer leading, we want honesty. Real Network marketers will choose honesty and openness over any comp plan or product EVERY time. They thirst for honesty and truth, they are drawn to it like a starving person is to food. And because of who we are and what we do, most of us can smell the half truths a mile away.
It is really a tragedy that these people don’t understand that all of this is hurting them as well as the distributors. Not just PHPI but all who engage in this behavior.
AMEN Longtimer!
You hit it straight on the head! It IS the honest and ethical that succeed in life and in business. More people NEED badly to read your posts on these issues! Perhaps if some were honest and ethical instead of being so dishonest, unethical and always choosing money over principles and character, we wouldn’t be having these issues in the marketing industry or in politics and many other areas of life and business!
Thanks much for your words of true wisdom!
Great blog,i say monetize it Troy.My opinion you always try to be fair in the “mlm wireless wars”.
Troy,
Perfect timing and you are right on the money!!! This morning I received an email from one of the leaders telling me my concerns regarding PHPICO were right on the money! Furthermore, he sent an email to a large group of us apologizing for misleading us and told us to seek refunds.
I have learned from my mistakes so I have kept all my communications with these scam artist’s in the event anyone needs it down the road.
Chris
Your post was a waste of time unless you are willing to share the e-mails you claim to have received from one of the leaders.
A refund for what ?
Phones are going out and comissions are being pay !!!
At this time it looks to me like things are looking good.
Good luck to all of us out there trying to make a go of this wireless MLM ( chaos )
Hey Troy!
These ARE VERY interesting questions! In lieu of someone we happen to know that DID in fact join PHPI after going through the Global Verge debacle – they were charged a fast $49.99 to join in May and then a few days later the push was on to set up their autoship for $45 and some change. Now the problem they explained to us personally, WAS that they had in fact asked specifically WHAT was the product they’d be receiving for their monthly autoship? They were told it would be some PHPI Minerals of sorts.
Here it is 20 + some odd days later and nothing! Sure they received their website and back office BUT …WHERE are these PHPI Minerals they were specifically TOLD THEY WOULD receive? Does this seem JUST LIKE Global Verge all over again OR …is this something else those distributors WILL have to deal with?
Troy, you mentioned the audio’s and in listening to RIck Roundtree – he stated that it may be a few months down the road but these issues PHPI are having WILL be resolved? IT DOES in fact seem like HERE WE GO AGAIN (regarding their distributors)!! WE personally WOULD ADVISE anyone even considering this company to WAIT and SEE IF they’re going to resolve these issues OR …IF they’re going to end up like Global Verge with egg on their faces and cause alot of disruption, disappointment for distributors and yet another round of credibility destroyed in the process!
It’s not looking too good at the moment for sure!
Partners, we have been saying for the last 5 months, why would you leave GV now to go to PHPI, GV went thru all the headaches, and now they have gotten it together and is starting to produce some really good stuff. So why would all these people follow the ones that were pushing the hype when they were with GV, to do it all over again. Maybe your starting to see what we have said all along, the so called leaders that left GV were the ones that GV needed to leave.
Real Source.
Real Source,
First of all we left Global Verge back in mid February. We were one of the lucky ones that in fact WERE being paid. However, because of the lack of ethics and concern for the distributors, all the delays that company was experiencing and the continual lies that were being told, we chose to leave and take our time and efforts elsewhere. Being 29+ year veterans in the marketing and direct sales industry we knew we would do much better without all the controversy and delays!
Although we struggled with leaving, this was our choice and solid decision and …in no way implicated any other members nor was it a judgement of any kind towards any other members whose decision was to stay with Global Verge. In fact we still have several friends still with Global Verge.
If you read backwards when this first began around February time frame – you’ll see that we knew then that these so called leaders who were the ones shooting the hype while knowing how many people were being harmed would surely lose any credibility they had before the fact. it’s fact that a person simply can not knowingly and with any sense of honesty feed untruths to other people and have them believe in their ability to be an true ethical leader!
The actions of the people who in our opinion overstayed while doing harm, still don’t excuse the actions of the corporates at Global Verge and how they took peoples money and provided them with little or nothing for almost a year. They refused to give refunds and sent out those so called “upgraded” phones ordered at their convenience and …that were in fact “refurbished” phones and then had the gaul to charge members FULL price for them instead of offering a discount. We have strong doubts that these people ever intended to do right by their distributors then. Looking forward we reserve our opinion until we see proof they have had a major turn around in their procedures as fars as how they’re treating their distributors!
In our opinion and that of many others, we all need to be asking the harder questions as to where did the monies go they collected from 50,000 some people in June 2009? If Global Verge wasn’t paying all of their distributors, purchasing inventory and they weren’t giving any refunds on products ordered, then what DID happen to all that money?
We’re not talking a few dollars here …we’re talking approximately $4 million dollars with another $1.4 million added IF (notice we say IF) every one of those 50,000 members had stayed and payed the monthly $39.00 up until January 2010. This is not “small change” not to mention the warehouses they spoke of on the calls supposedly full of phones that never existed!
We’re pleased accordingly with Troy’s recent post to see they at least have SOME phones out now but …unfortunately, that’s not going to be enough to warrant other people who’ve been burned by them to even consider a return as part of Global Verges membership. They’re going to need to get past all these lawsuits and prove themselves and alot more before anyone we know would even take a second glance!
When and if Global Verge and the boys explain the monies and where they are or have been to the distributors both former and currently active – MAYBE people will be more open to giving them a second look. In good faith at this time, we personally do not see Global Verge a viable business option that we would recommend. We would love to see things 100% turned around at Global Verge and the other current companies that are having problems and …it would be great to see all distributors happy and prospering with their choice in business!
We wish everyone still at Global Verge all the best. We hope that all of you and your prospective new members prosper and things go right from this point going forward. It would be great to see Global Verge make it and become that company others look up to as a model for good business!
Partners, you are so offbase. GV has refunded so many people, in fact many people were refunded and did charge backs with their credit card company’s, so GV was out on both ends. You ask where did the money go, well Partners, for the ones that recruited and built a business, have been paid every mo on the matrix pay, bonus pool money, up to 50% matching bonuses, and commissions on all sales. If you realized how much GV pays out in their comp plan you will know where the money went. GV has one of the strongest comp plans in the entire MLM industry. Partners, it is amzing how people do not take ownership in their own business, half the people don’t even go into their backoffice, and if they had any commissions that were in commissions plus, or later gvwallet, didn’t even set up their accounts to withdraw the money, that is not GV’s fault. No company is perfect, and definitely distributors are not perfect, but I will say Mark and Ted have stayed the course, they have done everything in their power for the reps that have reached out to help them and resolve any of their issues. These 2 guys did not pack up and leave, on the contrary they are now pushing out some great deals for the members, and there is alot more in store in the very near future.
Real Source
Real Source,
We’re not “off base” at all in our experience with Global Verge! Some people did get refunds and some didn’t and then SOME WAITED 6 months to get a refund! Also, we had members in our downline that were offered UPGRADED phones and charged FULL PRICE! When they received the REFURBISHED PHONES they ask for a refund and were offered or paid NONE!
Whatever your affiliation in belief in Global Verge is your option and certainly we or no one else is going to suggest you believe in any other way!
We too GOT PAID each and every month and WERE NOT one of those that fell remiss in setting up our eWallet account. The eWallet acccount however charged WAY TOO HIGH FEES and when addressing the inconveniences of using eWallet and having made suggestions they return to Global Commissions pay system as it was a more convenient system to use and easy to transfer funds with lower fees …Ted Robbins NEVER REPLIED to our email or message left through SUPPORT @ Global Verge by phone!
Now those who wish to believe Global Verge has what it takes to succeed – let’s wait and see when the game is over with all their lawsuits against Global Group members and PHPICO. Their continued efforts at building an MLM company that’s solid are to be commended but the situation in the PAST is totally another question! Facts are facts and one can’t UNDO FACTS over the past year with Global Verge and their issues.
SOME say now that Global Group leaders are gone, the company Global Verge isn’t having the issues they did which speaks to wether or not and who or who not was causing these issues in the first place – who knows for sure? We’re not here to judge one way or another!
You state: …”GV has one of the strongest comp plans in the entire MLM industry”. Okay you’re certainly entitled to believe what you want as others have the same beliefs about their perspective companies of choice. We’d take issue in comparison to the NEW comp plan we have now in our company. However we also believe …”to each their own” beliefs. It’s not to say what others base their beliefs on given different levels of experience and knowledge regarding comp plans and how they’re good ones or not for the average distributors.
Listen Real Source, we wish you all the best in your choice to stay with Global Verge as we do anyone else who has made that same choice. The whole idea in marketing and direct sales is for individuals to make their own choices. YOU are the one that has to be happy with what you’re doing and the company and comp plan you’ve chosen. NO one else has the right to convince you otherwise unless you want to be convinced or if something happens that convinces you otherwise.
ROCK ON Real Source and PROSPER with Global Verge – It’s ALL GOOD for everyone in their chosen company and business!
Have a Happy and Safe 4th of July!
@Real Source stop trying to take up for Global Verge I agree with Partners. Just admit it they did some file things. I am a business man I do have a Non-Profit and I also Have a C.Corp. I’ve been setting up C.Corp and S.Corp as well as LLC for over 10 years. A lot of people do not understand Corporate Formalities. Global Verge started off wrong as well as PHPI. I figure that i would give them a chance becuse it was a low risk investment. They were not asking for $600 so I took the risk and waited to see how things would turn out before I invited any of my Friends. I said that I would sacrifice my money before I have my friends sacrifice their money.
Hey Troy, I backed out of PHPI within the past week and I have, since then, received threats from many people. Rick and Curtis have been very gracious in assisting with my exit of the company. They are great leaders in this company.
My reason in backing out is personal, but along with threats I have received even more (46 emails) from people also contemplating backing out or that already have due to the amount we must pay until phone sales start in 4-6 months from now. It is VERY fishy the way many people must sink so much money into this company without making anything. I know that A LOT of people have already backed out, I am suspecting that half or more will back out by next month if sales do not begin.
This is not a good thing!
One of my websites is highly optimized to be hit on search engines when people search for People Helping People, Inc. so what I say on my site says a lot about the company. I want to warn people about all of this, but I feel like I can’t for fear of losing relationships with those who want the money out of my downline. This is my reputation on the line. How do I go about this, Troy? I could make a HUGE statement and warning with my website, or sell it to another PHP associate.
I want to be smart about this. I want the company to succeed, but I just do not see it happening with the way they are trying to run it. I feel the need to tell everyone to reevaluate their decision to stick with the company. WHAT DO I DO!?
Turner,
I am sorry you are receiving threats from folks. If I were in your shoes, I would share on your site your personal story. The company will rise or fall on their own. But if you want to share your personal experience then do it.
Just remember, you need to keep a watchful eye on what is happening. If PHPI is able to get things turned around, then you need make sure you update your site with current info.
Turner
Not sure what planet you are on, But there is many PHPI Reps. buying, receiving, and using Phones and getting paid comissions.
You stated
(It is VERY fishy the way many people must sink so much money into this company without making anything.)
So much money ??? $49.99 to join and $39.99 autoship Heck i know personally many Reps. that have made that back in this first month of buisness.
Just not sure why you posted what you did.
Wake up dude !!! oh and good luck !
Turner that’s why I said that I would do the sacrifice before I would bring anyone on board. I saw the hype and I was one of the people who left Global Verge as well. I left Global Verge because they were doing the exact same thing is PHPI and that’s why I left PHPI. I took the risk and paid the eshipz for a few months just to see if these companies were legit. Global Verge as well as PHPI were taking advantage of their distributors because we were spending money without even a product to distribute that’s pure crazy but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Well you can say I was being naïve, because I had thought of this concept a long time ago and I do believe that there will come a day when there will be a company who will be able to pull this off. If I had the money I know I would be able to pull it off. Global Verge and PHPI will never be able to do it because they started the wrong way and that was by taking peoples money.
Hello Troy,
I am a first time writer here, and have thought long and hard about posting. I know Derrick personally and can tell you (first hand) that you hit the nail on the head on this one. I am wondering, why he showed up at the PHPI event with his (wife) when he is divorced! My jaw hit the floor on that lie. I also know that the so called leaders he has surrounded himself with (EX-GV members) are misleading the people into PHPI with yet more HYPE. I have watched this all unfold and have had to laugh at the idiocy of these guys. ANY smart business person would have asked Derrick to give proof of funds, before undertaking the opening of a new business, guess what, he cant! He goes around telling us he has MILLIONS of dollars, where is the proof? This also goes to show the caliber as well as the business smarts of the leaders, and I use the term loosly, that are in business with him. It amazes me how these type of guys always think they know more than everyone else, yet they are all broke! they bost how great they are at recruiting, yet if you were to look, most of them I bet, did the minimum. They do not lead by example, they lead by hype. Its time these people, from ALL companies, are confronted, exposed and told to go away! America needs home based business to do what it was meant to do, give ALL people the opportunity to succeed, not to have a couple stand up and say they made it, knowing they did it thru hype and by stepping on those who helped promote them! I know first hand that these guys gave false information about the compensation plan while in GV to bolster their checks. They told us all to sign up at the 39 pak KNOWING that we would be left out of the global pools if we hit the diamond qualification, yet ALL of them would get bigger checks. It was a breath of fresh air that the people I dealt with at GV corp, including Ted Robbins, fixed this for many folks who otherwise would have been left out. We never heard from Mark or Ted that the phones would were 5G, or that you could sit in Russia and talk to Australia like it was next door, we heard all this HYPE from these guys who are now working together in PHPI. It also strikes me that since all of these folks left, it seems that most of the drama has died down at GV! We were specifically told NOT to listen to the corp calls, that these guys knew better how to build. and then they quickly wanted us to PAY them for GG and marketing things thru them. Since staying connected with the company I can tell you I have learned alot! Mark, Ted, Ruth & Jan are on the phone 2x per week keeping us up to date on everything that is going on. I had my doubts about these PHPI folks when they were with GV, because ANYONE who tells you not to pay attention to the company but only listen to them has a fear and their own agenda! I guess they have now been exposed and I hope that those who followed will wake up and see that they have been lemmings, lead to the slaughter for the gain of the few!
Thanx Troy!
GrassHopper,
Welcome to our community, and thank you for taking time to share your insights.
I just wanted to state how lucky we all are that Troy is so magnanimous so as to run this site full-time and not get paid at all. If you’re not paid to stir things up, then what do YOU think your advertisers are paying for? BS
