Amway China, through its Amway Charity Foundation, announced a Commitment to Action at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting in New York that will bring 2,000 “Spring Sprouts Kitchens” to rural schools in the next two years, ensuring 1 million Chinese children have access to nutritious school lunches. The Commitment to Action builds on the Spring Sprouts Kitchens that currently serve 754 rural schools and 377,000 students in 13 of the provinces that are home to the majority of the country’s 61 million left-behind children, many millions of whom are malnourished.

Immunotec recently released its third-quarter 2013 financial results. Total revenue for the three-month period reached $14.4 million, an increase of 9.8 percent as compared to the same period in the previous year. Total revenue in the nine-month period reached $39.2 million, an increase of 10.2 percent as compared to the same period in the previous year. Network sales in the three-month period reached $12.9 million, an increase of 10.3 percent as compared to the same period in the previous year. Network sales in the nine-month period reached $35.3 million, an increase of 10.5 percent as compared to the same period in the previous year. LifeVantage recently announced financial results for the fourth quarter of 2013 and the full year ended June 30, 2013. Fiscal 2013 fourth quarter highlights include that net revenue increased 15.5 percent over the prior-year period to $51.5 million; gross profit increased to $44.2 million compared to $38.2 million in same period last year; and the number of active independent distributors increased 45 percent year-over-year and six percent on a sequential quarterly basis. Fiscal 2013 full-year highlights include net revenue increased 65 percent over the prior year to $208.2 million and gross profit increased to $171.5 compared to $108.1 million in the prior year. Mary Kay celebrated its 50th anniversary last Friday, Sept. 13, 2013. Mary Kay Ash founded the now iconic company on Sept. 13, 1963. Friday’s events ended what was a yearlong celebration for the company, with events hosted in many of the 37 countries where its products are sold.
In other company news, The Mary Kay Foundation is awarding $3 million in grants to 150 domestic violence shelters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Each shelter will receive a $20,000 unrestricted grant to maintain critical services and programs for individuals who are survivors of domestic abuse. While more than half of the grant recipients use the funds for basic operating expenses, others are working to hire much needed personnel, complete repairs and facility renovations or add additional programs and resources based on the needs of their shelter. The donation comes in advance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.

Amway India has opened a business process outsourcing (BPO) unit to be run exclusively by visually challenged persons in Madurai in association with Indian Association of the Blind. The BPO funded by Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF) would provide employment to 60 people and could be increased to 200.
Avon has partnered with Estroven, a multi-symptom menopause relief solution, to “Sleep Pink,” and raise funds to advance access to quality breast health care, to research prevention and causes of breast cancer and ultimately find a cure. Sleep Pink is a national movement, sponsored by Estroven, through which participants hold pink pajama parties to celebrate breast cancer survivors and remind women of the need for continued awareness. Those who hold parties are asked to post photos to the Estroven website, where Estroven will then pledge a donation to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer for each photo submitted.
Herbalife will be the Official Nutrition Sponsor of the 2013 YMCA Stair Climb for Los Angeles. This is the 20th year of the event, which will see thousands of people climb the 1,679 stairs to the top of the U.S. Bank Tower in Downtown Los Angeles to raise funds in support of programs for children and families in the community. As the Official Nutrition Sponsor, Herbalife will be entering a number of teams of employees and will have a range of nutrition products available for sampling during the block party that takes place throughout the day of the event.
Mary Kay partnered with China Women’s Development Foundation and the United Nations Development Program to create a program promoting women’s participation in the development of the culture industry in China. The program provides training for local women and women’s organizations, helping local women develop their careers and skills through sustainable modes of poverty alleviation.
