Six direct selling companies, AdvoCare, Amway, Herbalife, Nature’s Sunshine Products, Nu Skin and Shaklee, are endorsing an educational program (the ABC-AHP-NCNPR Botanical Adulterants Program) advising industry, health professionals and researchers about the challenges of adulterated herb and botanical products.
Ambit Energy announced the expansion of its services into Virginia and New Hampshire during its fourth annual Simulcast event. The Simulcast provided a day of training, motivation and announcements to consultants in Austin, Baltimore, Chicago, Newark, Pittsburgh, San Jose and Syracuse.
Amway Thailand is now making their orders available for pick-up at 7-Eleven convenience stores in that country, a direct benefit to business owners who can now receive Amway products faster and more conveniently at a location closer to their homes.
Barefoot Books recently acquired BabbaCo, a company that produces a monthly activity box for kids. BabbaCo founder and CEO Jessica Kim will assume the role of President at Barefoot Books as part of the acquisition.
CVSL, parent company of Longaberger and Paperly, has launched a rewards program that will offer members of social networks within CVSL’s companies discounts and benefits on a range of products and services. The first partner to join the program is Hertz, which will offer product discounts and free membership in the Hertz #1 Club Gold loyalty program.
Educational Development Corp. (EDC), parent company of member Usborne Books, saw increased earnings in its fiscal third quarter. Earnings were $547,000, compared to $525,700 in the same quarter of 2012. The company also reported earnings of $670,800 for the nine months ended Nov. 30, compared to $1 million for the same period in 2012. Usborne reported a third-quarter revenue increase of eight percent compared with the same period in 2012. With another rise in December, the division has had seven consecutive months of increases over the prior year.
Isagenix announced its 2013 sales at $448 million (up 34 percent) and 21 new million-dollar earners in 2013, totaling 99 million-dollar earners in the company. Isagenix is projecting to do $600-$700 million in 2014.
Jeunesse Global announced $256 million in sales revenue for 2013, closing out the year with an increase of 121 percent from 2012. More than 28,000 distributors joined the company in December 2013 alone.
LegalShield has partnered with Visiting Angels Living Assistance Services, a home care network with more than 450 franchises across the U.S. and Canada. Every Visiting Angels franchisee will have the opportunity to purchase a LegalShield Small Business Plan. The plan will give the franchisee access to LegalShield provider attorneys who will provide legal advice and counsel on any business legal issue, contract and document review, and more.
Mary Kay announced this week that in addition to the pink Cadillac that currently serves as an incentive to high-performing sales directors, a black BMW 320i will be joining the Career Car program. The BMW will replace the Ford Mustang that was introduced in 2011.
The Reliv Kalogris Foundation (RKF), the charitable arm of Reliv, announced the opening of St. John the Baptist National School of Petite-Anse, Haiti. The school building, damaged in the 2010 earthquake, had been declared unsafe for use in case of future earthquakes. The RKF provided funds to upgrade the building for sanctioned use as a functioning elementary school. The school now serves more than 200 children, grades K-6, and plans are in place to further expand the facility to accommodate more than 500 students.
