MLM Leadership is More Than Just a Ranked Postion it Comes From the Heart

Over the last few weeks I have studied some very interesting stats across all out blogs, YouTube, FaceBook, MySpace, ThatMLMBeat, Better Networker and a few other social networking sites where we have profiles, and the results have been the same.

So called MLM Leaders are shooting the wounded, to make themselves look good. Truly what I am seeing is what some churches do when folks sin and it becomes public.

We have enough critics taking pot shots at us, that we sure don’t need to do it to each other.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought we were all on the same team? Do we not want all the same things?

1. Build long term residual income

2. Create financial freedom

3. Pay off our debt

4. Leave a legacy for our family

5. Change our financial future forever

6. Change our life for the better… Permanently!

If this is the case, then why are MLM leaders going around taking pot shots at each other, just to make themselves look better?

Some of the comments I have read lately look like high school boys trying to release their pent up hormones. Or high school girls, spreading rumors about the other girls, so the boys will want her more.

Hey, maybe I got it all wrong, maybe I am a little to close to the situation. So let’s do this.

Comment below and leave your thoughts. Or if you are one of these leaders I am talking about, then maybe it’s time you make a public apology and get back to the basics of building your team, and leading from the heart.

Living An Epic Adventure,

Troy

  1. LOL… I had to smile when I saw how you titled your name. I agree sometimes ConcernedMLMer can get a little over zealous, and he does have a personality that is hard to duplicate.

However, when you get to know him, you start to realize three very important leadership traits…

    1. He loves his company and the lifestyle it has brought his family
    2. He is not afraid to take on anyone to defend his company (still a diamond in the rough, but getting there)
    3. He stands for something… TO many folks today try and be politically correct, Ben, I mean ConcernedMLMer is not that way. You know where he stands on the issues.

  2. Troy,

In many cases we do need to support "each other" as fellow Network Marketers. However, there is a certain breed of Networker that I DO NOT want to associate myself with and one that I feel needs to be held accountable.

This breed of Networker uses the hopes and dreams of amazing people to suck those people in to incredibly unstable opportunities, simply to generate income. You know the pre-launch re-runs that I'm talking about. We see them every year. Certain people go from pre-launch to pre-launch creating a buzz and hype, sucker thousands out of millions of dollars, shut it down and then change the name of the opportunity and do it again the next year.

These scammers hide behind the legitimate name of our profession yet they undermine it with their unethical behavior and actions.

Unfortunately I cannot sit by and support these people as fellow Networkers, just because they're in the same industry. And neither can you – which is one of the reasons I believe you have this community – to expose that hype and those companies that seek to damage our industry.

Accountability is what I call it. If a company is going to use hype to recruit then they should stand accountable to questions and concerns. Exposing those concerns is our right and quite frankly is just darn smart. Your site alone has probably helped A LOT of people save their money and reputations by exposing these scams for what they are. Calling those companies out is not bashing them. It's holding them accountable. Every great company (just like every great leader) should be held accountable. If a company resists it then I think that company has something to hide.

Keep up the great work. Thank you for all you do!

  3. Concerned MLMer is the No1 culprit….this guy is slamming everyone and going into forums that are not his own business…delving, prying, fabricating…just a real leader!

LY Leaders you need to have a sit down with this person…

  4. Troy. Your video post was well stated and very timely. It is unfortunate that during a time such as this tight economic atmosphere, when so many are desperate to make a change, this industry has given rise to so much fraud and greed, so much this is better than that. It does nothing but hurt the reputation of the Net Work Marketing industry. That is sad. But then again, there ARE a lot of great companies and there ARE a lot of great leaders out there making a difference. And this site with its strong community makes a difference. Thank You Troy.

  5. Good going Chris! It takes a strong personality to admit a wrong and then take the necessary steps to right it. I meant no disrespect in my earlier post against you. My sole intent was to confront a misstated issue. Again, no disrespect and good going on clearing it up. As far as Global Verge is concerned, although you have made some strong remarks against them, you have provided this community with very valuable information regarding their misdeeds. I hope you keep that up.

  6. I agree thank you Paul And troy I have learned alot, Thanks, And I will continue to try and better myself in this industry and learn what I need to make my distributors strong.

  7. This is a great subject and Todd Falcone on his Monday call did an hour on the 25 things to avoid like the plague in business. It was exactly what we all should strive for. I took great notes. Go to his site and check it out.

  8. Troy,

Last week I asked you for a copy of a call with the intention of using it to feed a little crow to a competitor (Panther Mobile). You know what, never mind. I'm not going to do it.

You're dead right and even though the Panther vs. WOW mobile feud angered me greatly, I'm not going to play that game..

Chris, you're a good man to step up and say what you've said here. I've said some things that I'm not proud of either and I was about to get a whole lot louder about things that were said last week.

Troy, THANK YOU for the being a voice of reason and rationality. (and for not sending me that recording while I was still angry)!..

    To my guys….

I have done a disservice to you and your business by over reacting to what was said by Panther. What I should have done was to inform you of WHAT had happened and not try to tell you how to react to it.

Chris, my apologies for what I was about to do and again…. Thank you Troy for what you do!

  9. Gretzky was an Edmonton Oiler, and although he is Canadian, and The Great One, he played for the wrong team. But he sure did a great job of coaching 8 years ago.

Chris my actions were to protect the privacy of the innocent. It was not a vindictive motive. I would also do it again in a heartbeat, regardless of who did it.

Chris let`s consider the matter behind us, and move on shall we.

  10. Your absolutely right Troy, it is happening all over and I believe it is happening for a number of reasons.

First, there has been so much emphasis on "promoting Yourself" that many people are doing ONLY that. As such they are completely focused on themselves. That is not what the industry was or should be built on. Add to that the fact that it is often easier, not right but easier, to tear someone else down than actually go through the work to build yourself up. Mix in some possible financial gain or loss and you will get this kind of behavior.

Competition is one thing but It is time to raise the bar.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to promote yourself, of course you should. But keep it balanced. Do it in the proper way, respectfully helping, teaching and serving others. If you do that your going to be recognized by those you want to be recognized by and the rewards will be great.

  11. Hi paul I wanted to let you know that the paper work from the FCC finally got to the Corporate office here in South Carolina, And as I already Stated Here we had to pay a 4200.00 dollar fine for posting that info.
As for hockey it must have really hurt to have Wayne Gretzky go to LA? Just thought I would Rub that in, LOL, Well you should receive a response from them explaining our fine etc.
I respect that even though it wasnt your info you stuck up for GV and their distributors, Even though it was wrong to be honest I probably would have done it again, circumstance being what they were with GV. Just wanted Troy to know and everyone else that Paul did follow through.

  12. I agree 100% but I will attack a money game in a second. I am sick of DNA, Data Networks, 8k a week, and all this garbage that gives us a black eye. I will also go after un-ethical people that cross recruit as it is WRONG!!

I love this industry and have friends with integrity in other deals. Integrity does matter.

    Thanks Troy.

I love your site so much I have my entire database plug in. That way they see I have nothing to hide and want them to know what is real and stay focused.

    Tim

  13. Well said my Canadian friend! However, you don't have to rub in the Hockey Gold Metal 🙂

Thank you for your continued contributions to the community!

  14. Chris,

Going after Global Verge after they proved their lack of concern for the distributor's is not what I am referring. However, talking about WOW situation would fall into the right category.

  15. And I admit here that I should have waited and talked to wow directly, for that I am wrong, no excuses here. And I apologize to the wow distributors affected by it, further I will continue to talk well of wow as long as they continue to produce which I have no doubt that they will. And I will help Any mlm distributor panther or not that has questions in telecom, fairly and honestly, whether your Wow distributor or gi connect etc, I will share my knowledge of the business without trying to recruit you to panther and Troy u can hold me to that. So if I can help I'm here, and further I again apologize to all mlm telcom companies for being a part of the problem and not the solution, I will continue to produce and be a part of the solution from this point forward,

    Chris Greco

  16. Troy, too often, our first response to an attack is to reply in kind. Even the most devout Christian, who preaches the turning the other cheek, may be inclined to slap back.

Case in point. One of my earliest posts here was in response to my being called a moron that should go to work in a library with other linear thinkers. If you recall it was, "Here's the other cheek, slap away."

Believe me when I say, it was very difficult for me to do so an required a delayed response, then an edited response on my part to come to that. My first draft was anything but professional.

fast forward to this last weekend when I had a unhappy customer come to my store with a complaint. It was a simple error, but it escalated into a shouting match, as I responded to being attacked with equal force in response. Using my superior size as an intimidation factor.

We get mixed messages. We hear turn the other cheek on Sunday, then we hear the best defense is a good offense at the hockey rink (Hey Canada won gold again, I had to add that in her somehow). Is it any wonder that we have mixed responses as well?

The internet community has hosted flame wars since the early days. As someone who has participated in many, over the years, I have discovered that they rarely serve a useful purpose. As such, I consciously choose to not get dragged into them for the most part. although at times I do still get suckered. When I realize it, I back out as it serves no purpose to me. As you know that is the reason I ended my participation in the GV thread. I made my points, I was done. To continue bashing the other party involved would serve no purpose aside from maybe providing him more free publicity on your blog.

So what is the solution? I can't offer a simple one. All communities will have personality clashes. Maybe you can edit your first sentence to include a play fair and no flame wars clause. A stronger editing stance on your part. Unfortunately that is time consuming on your part. Banning people and their IP address should only be used as a last resort.

Good luck restoring law and order on your comments sheriff Dooley.

  17. You are right troy and I am guilty of this for Smashing Global Verge publicly, I should have set this out on Global Verge and Left it alone, But Im not from Network Marketing and I am new to this, In my business in Cellular We all publicly Bash each other but its the nature of the business, AT&T and VERIZON are a prime Example, But I want to state here and let me say this here******************************************************************

I CHRIS GRECO WAS (WRONG****) and I am not afraid to admit it, Do I feel what I said about GV was right, YES, Should I have gone about it a seperate way, Yes, I want to apologize to EVERYONE IN EVERY COMPANY THAT DOES TELECOM IN MLM, I HAVE BEEN A PART OF THE PROBLEM WHEN I WANTED TO BE A PART OF THE SOLUTION, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE PRODUCED AND CONTINUED TO DO SO, I FEEL THIS HAS BEEN OVERSHADOWED BY MY ACTIONS HERE ON MLM HELPDESK, NO WAY AROUND IT, AND UNLIKE SOME OTHERS, I CAN ADMIT WHEN I AM WRONG,
CONCERNING WOW MOBILE, YES I REPORTED WHAT WAS SAID WAS A MISTAKE OR MISCOMMUNICATION, AND I WAS (((WRONG****)))) NO OTHER WAY TO PUT IT, AS AN OWNER OF MY COMPANY AND A LEADER NOW IN THIS INDUSTRY I WANT TO APOLOGIZE TO MY FIELD AT PANTHER MOBILE, I WANT TO APOLOGIZE TO THE REPS AND LEADERS AT WOW MOBILE, I WILL MOVE FORWARD TO HELP BUILD THIS BUSINESS AND BUILD THE DISTRIBUTORS IN THE FIELD, AND I WILL CONTINUE TO SPEAK WELL OF MY VALID COMPETITION SUCH AS WOW MOBILE, WHO HAS AN ACTUAL PRODUCT THAT WORKS FOLKS PERIOD, AND I LOOK FORWARD TO PANTHER AND WOW BUILDING MLM TELCOM and MLM RESPECT PERIOD BACK TO WHERE IT USE TO BE.

BUT LET ME SAY THIS AGAIN, I CHRIS GRECO WAS WRONG AND DIDNT LOOK AT WHAT MY ACTIONS WERE DOING NOT ONLY HURTING PANTHER BUT WOW, AND EVERYONE ELSE BY GIVING PEOPLE A BAD PERCEPTION OF THIS BUSINESS, AGAIN I WILL MOVE FORWARD AND HELP ANY DISTRIBUTOR IN (ANY) COMPANY WITH QUESTIONS ETC ABOUT THIS BUSINESS, AS IT IS MY JOB AS AN OWNER AND LEADER TO BE AN EXAMPLE NOT A PROBLEM AND I WILL MOVE FORWARD AS SUCH AND DO MY BEST TO SET A BETTER EXAMPLE FOR NOT JUST NETWORK MARKETING BUT MY INDUSTRY OF TELECOM AS WELL. THANK YOU TROY FOR ALLOWING ME TO SAY WHEN I AM WRONG AND HEY I HAVE NEVER HIDDEN AND I CAN ADMIT WHEN I AM WRONG, I JUST HOPE I CAN MOVE FORWARD AND LEARN FROM IT.

  18. Sam,

I agree 100% when a company is hurting the distributors it needs to be brought to the forefront for people to see and to protect potential distributors. But, to just slam a company in hopes of gaining misled distributors or to cause distraction is not cool.

You have my full respect my friend. You are a valuable community member.

  19. Troy, you are right. We need to focus on our own business. I will say that there are companies that have not been acting in a legitimate manor, and I have no problems in bringing that to light to warn their members and prospective members. No company is perfect, not Wal-mart, Target, Sears, GE etc. So we don't need to tear down our own sister net-workmarketinging companies for minor missteps. I have said before that I have been a little hard on a couple of companies, and I will be more constructive in my criticism in the future.
