MLM Company Review: Solavei Mobile Service Powered by Relationships

Over the last few weeks we have received countless requests to review Solavei the newest MLM wireless company to enter the MLM Wireless space. Without a doubt this company has fantastic management and marketing. My only concern is after going through the MLM Wireless Wars of 2009-2011 I saw 18 months of devastation for many network marketing reps.

Ryan Wuerch

Solavei is a social networking and commerce platform that enables users to connect, share, and capitalize on the power of social networks. Solavei’s mission is to make commerce less expensive by empowering individuals to earn income on the products and services they enjoy and use every day. Solavei’s initial product offering is affordable, no-contract, unlimited voice, text, and data services throughout the United States. It operates as an MVNO through a strategic partnership with T-Mobile USA. Solavei is led by former Fortune 100 telecom and retail executives and advisors.

“We are going to make a difference in people’s lives by shifting billions of dollars from traditional mass-media advertising into the greatest advertising vehicle today — people. Solavei is the first company to create an economic linkage between mobile service, social commerce, and social networking technology. We give people the opportunity to earn income by using and promoting the services they are already consuming each and every day.”

    Troy,

    I didn't see where sells were included in the program. It looks like you recruit and the recruit is the only one that purchases. Is this legal? Or is it a sale, and when you buy, you qualify to earn off referrals?

    • http://MLMHelPDesk.com Troy Dooly

      @Jmw4x,

      Well you bring up a good point. Since it is in pre-launch, they may be just working on building the network. And once it launches they will open to customers. But that is a good call.

    • http://solaveiexplained.com Gene Stygar

      jmw4x,

      Since when is making commissions from the people you invite illegal… If you advertize a product from Amazon with your unique URL and they end up purchasing the item, you make a commission on the sale.

      There are literally thousands of company out there, Amazon, Ebay, Home Depot, Barnes & Nobile, etc. that you can become an “affiliate” for and make money on each sale you bring to them, you will even make a percentage if the customer gets up-sold.

      As far as Solavei is concerned, it’s all service based… You use the service and you share the plan with others, $49 per month for unlimited voice, text, and data. If you tell 3 people about it and they join your social network – you get $20 bucks. If you continue to tell another 3 people (called “Treos”) you make another $20 buck and so on.

      I believe this is the next big thing – I mean there are 300 million cell phone users in the U.S alone and most of them are paying $70 or more for a lesser plan, plus if its a family of 4 that sign up, the 1st phone will get the benefit of having a Trio right off the bat and will receive $20 bucks off the bill (that will average out to $44 per phone for unlimited everything).

      I’m part of the beta launch with Solavei and have been using my unlocked phone from one of the top 2 providers for a few days now, and I love not having to track how much data I use or how many text I send out every month.

      The point I’m trying to make here is really take a look at the company, the leadership, and who is involved. Solavei is not some fly by night company, they have some real heavy hitters backing them, one of witch is Eddie Lazarus, former chief of staff at the FCC. Would someone like that be putting there reputation on the line, for something that was illegal?

      If you would like more information about Solavei, you can visit my website: http://SolaveiExplained.com

      I also welcome you to email me if you would like to have a further discussion at gene@solaveiexplained.com

      • Troy Dooly

        @Gene,

        I do have a question I could not find on the web site. Do distributors have the ability to just market the service to end users who do not want to be part of the compensation structure?

        • Fernando

          When you join Solavei, you join as a mobile service only, then after you join, you have the option to upgrade as a Social Member. After September 21st anybody can join solavei just like Simple Mobile or Metro PCs, but now is by invitation only.

    We had over 10,000 people on the Solavei webinar tonight, it was awesome! If anyone needs an invite email me at yuhdalla@gmail.com

    I think you're partially right on the iPhone, but this is what their website says under usable phones:

    "Usable unlocked GSM phones do not provide our members with the exceptional experience we strive for. You should get voice, text, and data at slower (2G/EDGE) speeds (depending on phone and network availability). Usable phones will not have access to the Solavei mobile app, and members will need to login to the Solavei Community from a desktop browser."

    Also, their launch date is also on the rumored release date of the iPhone 5. Good luck to them!

    • http://MLMHelPDesk.com Troy Dooly

      @ejcmv,

      The issue is if a person just bought a new iPhone and "jailbreaks" aka "unlocked" will it void the warranty of the phone by Apple?

      • Abustamam

        Jailbreaking does, however if a user knows how to jailbreak, they also should know how to un-jailbreak. As long as the phone is returned to un-jailbroken status, the warranty is still valid.

      • Fernando

        The new Iphone 5 works on a T-mobile network, so you dont need to “unlock” or “Jailbreak” and can be purchased factory unlock in the apple store.

        • Troy Dooly

          @Fernando,

          So, folks can’t use their current iPhone but would have to purchase a new one out right, paid the cancelation fee with their current company. Seems high priced.

          • http://494nolimits.com Gene Stygar

            Folks are able to use their current iPhones.

            If they are still under contract they would pay the cancellation fee, however most people are paying between $80-$150 for there cell service. Solavei is $49 per month that is a $360 savings per year.

            Plus if you share with just 3 people it will reduce your cost to $29 per month. If you teach your 3 to due the same as you did you will have 12 people in your network… That’s free cell service and then some.

            Even if you did have to pay a cancellation fee, your still looking at owning your own business for under $300 and the product is one of 3 items people can’t live without.

            1. Keys
            2. Wallet
            3. Cell Phone

            So I don’t think this would make it high priced.

          • Troy Dooly

            @Gene,

            Thanks for posting. Just a few questions for clarification.

            1. Are you stating their can use their current iPhone without “Jail Breaking” it, or will they need to buy a new “unlocked” iPhone from Apple?

            2. I know you all promote $49 unlimited everything. In reviewing the major carriers all of them do have a top-end cap on data. Are you stating that your contracts do not have fine print that truly does limit the top-end data use per account based on the average?

            3. When you bring up the $49 per year, do you also provide a family plan? With my family shared plan, I have found it is cheaper to stay where I am.

            This willl help folks who might be on the fence.

  • ejcmv

    Troy, it's Erik. Old user name was too short for this new forum. I'm not sure, but it seems to say plainly that if you have an unlocked GSM phone, the best you're going to get is 2G/EDGE speeds…pretty much making your iPhone and iPod. Not sure about voiding the warranty…most aren't savvy enough to jail break their phones anyway.

    • http://MLMHelPDesk.com Troy Dooly

      @ejcmv,

      I Agree!

    • http://494nolimits.com Gene Stygar

      This is also in reply to Troys questions, sorry no reply under your post Troy.

      1. I don’t have an IPhone but for all intensive purposes will make a blanket statement that an IPhone will need to be jail-broken to be used with Solavei. As for the warranty. You can always un-jail-brake your phone and your warranty should be fine.

      1a. The following video was posted by someone else on the Solavei network showing the 2G speeds, he claims they are just as fast as 3G. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXtjvYX609A

      2. I am posting the following answer directly from the Solavei service overview PDF updated Oct, 3rd 2012:
      “Unlimited Data within the U.S. (includes Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands) keeps you free from data overages. No additional charges regardless of the amount of data used. Data speeds will reduce when the amount of data used exceeds 4GB in a billing cycle or when roaming domestically off of the Solavei network. Speeds reduce to a 2G data experience in these situations.”

      The way I read that statement is there is no top end limits.

      3. There is currently no “family plan” with Solavei however for my case it made sense to move over because of the savings.

      So here is my scenario before with AT&T:
      Three phones – me, my wife and my mother-in-law.
      Paying – $300 sharing plan with 1400 minutes, 5GB of data, and unlimited text.

      My scenario with same ATT phones on Solavei network:
      Three phones for $150 per month – no credit check, no contracts, unlimited everything. I’m already happy, saving $150 per month, so I’m excited and shared with Stephen a friend of mine and he got on board. Now because I completed my first “trio” I’m saving an additional $20 bucks, bringing my monthly cell-phone bill to $130 per month. If I stopped there that would still save me $2,000 per year from what I had before.

      I want to take a moment and thank you Troy for having a forum where we can have an honest conversation about our businesses and help one another make an educated decision on whether the business model fits our needs. Solavei is not for everyone, but so far I’m very happy to be part of the growing Solavei family.

      • Troy Dooly

        Thank you for this detailed reply. This will help folks looking for answers.

  • ejcmv

    Yes, you'll void your warranty, lose apple support, no more fast upgrades no new releases, it makes your phone slow and "buggy" and makes your phone subject to malware. (found this info on a website).

  • Doerf16

    I heard rumor that they will be working on iPhone 4G compatibility in a year from now. I think this is one thing that will for sure hurt them. Not saying everyone has one, but I know those that do would have a hard to switching (speaking for myself). Also, what about people that are in a contract with another provider? I know my contract isn't up until a year from now….with a $150 cancellation fee. I looked into service for my grandparents in Kansas- and there was no service.

    • http://494nolimits.com Gene Stygar

      Doerf16 – I don’t know what you are currently paying with your current provider but her are three options for you.

      1. Ride your current contract out, or wait till the contract is at a threshold you feel comfortable paying – most cancellations are prorated and get reduced with every month of use (see current providers cancellation policy).

      2. Consider what you are paying on a yearly bases. Example: if you are currently paying $70 per month and you switched to $49 per month that would be a $240 yearly savings. You would pay for your cancellation on month 7.

      3. Solavei has a fast start bonus (this is on top of the $20 per “trio) were you can earn an additional $650 for signing up 12 people in your first 60 days, this is how this promotion breaks down:
      1 “trio” in 60 days = $50 bonus
      2 “trios” in 60 days = an additional $100 bonus
      3 “trios” in 60 days = an additional $200 bonus
      4 “trios” in 60 days = an additional $300 bonus

      I would say since we are on the mlmhelpdesk website we are here to build a business not just change cell phone carriers. Option #3 makes that choice pretty easy!

      Plus I forgot to mention if you sign up before Nov. 1st. Your first month is free and there is no charge for the sim chip if you bring your own phone. That will save you $78 bucks.

      As for your grandparents keep looking up service in Kansas. T-mobile is constantly expanding their network – they just struck a deal with MetroPCS that should be closing first half of 2013 & also because the AT&T buyout didn’t happen last year, T-Mobile received increased spectrum (witch in short is coverage), all this is pointing to a growing coverage map.

      Take care,

      Gene

    Troy, to answer the question you raised at 04:50 in your video:

    Solavei offers "unlimited" data on T-Mobile's network – but with throttling: "Data speeds will reduce when the amount of data used exceeds 4GBs or when roaming domestically of the Solavei network." See:
    http://www.solavei.com/pdf/Solavei_Mobile_Service

    What's interesting though is that T-Mobile just announced unlimited data plans with no throttling, so I'm not sure if that will extend to Solavei's subscribers:

    Troy there are some interesting aspects to this compensation plan to put it nicely, that I find very company friendly and rep disastrous. Some leaders have taken pop shots at Vitel, and so I put this video and blog post together:

    Is Solavei Sizzle Without Substance. Check out my review especially if you consider yourself a leader in the networking industry: http://youtu.be/ogwyL3q2Utg

    Hi Troy,

    I just came back from being invited to visit the Corporate headquarters and sit down with Ryan Wuerch, CEO of Solavei. Overall, I came away quite impressed with how well they have put together their business plan, and operations in this early stage of the company.

    Ryan is a very passionate person that has a massive vision to create a global social commerce company. When talking to him he continually brought up that Solavei was not created to be a cell phone company (MVNO) but that its long-term purpose is bring mobile, commerce and social together to improve the way we buy products and services, and to reward us for helping others save money.

    There goal is to not change the way we buy and sell, but to meet people where they are at and reward them for what they are already doing, through the power of the community, hence the mantra “Powered by Relationships.”

    So far, for a pre-launch, they have quite the little operation going and the money being spent on patents for their technology, software and infrastructure is impressive. I think its easy to mis-understand what Solavei’s mission is but after spending some time with the Executives, it really helps paint a picture of Solavei’s potential.

    I was able to take some video of Ryan and our meeting and will try to post it shortly so you and your readers can get an inside look into our closed door meeting and Ryan’s heart for this company. I have to say I’m not easily impressed but this one has me getting pretty excited.

    Cheers,

    Jordan

    I’m not sure exactly why but this web site is loading extremely slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later and see if
    the problem still exists.
